The house that Covid built

This week my whole household has been isolating at home due to the toddler bringing home the dreaded Coronavirus.

It has been somewhat of a challenge with two of us working from home, taking it in turns looking after what rapidly became a very poorly two-year-old.

It was a tense moment for us all given her immune condition which means she is regularly hospitalized for simple ailments such as tonsillitis.

Now that she appears to be on the mend, we have chosen to focus on the positive and what we have learnt.

I have learnt that I can get a surprising amount done in half a day after only a few hours sleep, but the quality of my prose slips from eloquent to snappy and basic when being used as a comforter by my mini-me.

My husband has learnt that his toddler is less distracting than his colleagues, and has been getting more done working from home. What does that say about office life in the military I wonder?

My mini-me has learnt that mummy and daddy are quite serious and boring at times. She has also discovered that throwing food is the fastest way to get attention from a parent.

We have all benefited from my increased presence at home with an improved standard of provided vittles. Anyone for braised venison loin?

Overall, I think we all can’t wait to be released from the home again.
