After three and a half decades in the mainstream construction industry, the light dawned for Managing Director Julian Brandon. There was a different way to do business. A way to eradicate conflict and waste.
When Julian set up Brandon Consulting Services in 2016, he initially focused on pure construction clients. He was advising clients and organising construction on site without a main contractor.
The first project was the reconstruction of Felixstowe Pier (a complete rebuild.) This difficult demolition, marine civil engineering, superstructure building, and internal fit out project was completed in just 10 months. It opened 2 weeks early and at a cost of over 20% less than the most competitive main contractor price that the client was quoted. This alone seems justification for the Construction Management approach. The project also won an LABC award.
Since that first project, the Construction Management arm of Brandon Consulting Services has continued to work on other leisure projects on the East Coast of England, delivering various projects to clients’ needs.
The leisure industry seems to particularly benefit from the Construction Management mode of work procurement, as it maintains design and specification flexibility throughout the project.
